The Project
Our client in Abridge was keen to utilise a large alcove in their home, which was not being taken advantage of. This space didn’t receive enough natural lighting. There was also a door that opened into the area, further limiting the available space and lighting.
Positioning a storage unit or fitted wardrobes in alcoves can be a useful and stylish way to use these awkward spaces. The bespoke display unit addressed the customer’s key concerns, providing a practical, modern solution that opened up the room and illuminated this area.
Solution
To create a centrepiece in this room, our client opted to customise their unit into two large display units. The design utilises glass shelves and windows, as well as a soft Royal-White finish, to open up these display areas and amplify the customised lighting. By requesting built-in LED lights, the dark corner of the room was transformed into a bright focal point that provided storage and style.
The lower section of this unit is outfitted with drawers and cabinets finished in a silver-grey metallic slate, drawing the eye towards the display unit while providing out-of-sight storage solutions. This modern contrast effect was tied together through the clever customisation of the display cabinet panels. The back panels are finished in the same metallic slate, directing the eye upwards and providing a one-of-a-kind piece that suits the rest of the home.
